Brant County says residents must make appointments to take part in a household hazardous waste day on June 5 at the public works yard in Mount Vernon.
“Due to COVID-19, enhanced safety measures will be in place,” said Matt D’Hondt, Brant’s solid waste/wastewater operations Manager. “To minimize lineups and for safety of staff and those attending, an appointment is required. As well, those who attend are required to unload their own material and masks must be worn onsite when outside of your vehicle.”

Appointment Required for Brant’s Upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Day
County of Brant, ON – Household hazardous waste day is always a popular event in the County of Brant. The event is taking place on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the 1249 Colborne St. W.
“Household hazardous waste are materials that shouldn’t be disposed of in your household garbage because they are a health hazard to anyone who may come into contact with them and can cause harm to the environment” said D’Hondt. “Residents are invited to safely dispose of household hazardous waste during this one-day collection event put on by the county.”
Household hazardous waste includes: paint, used oils, household cleaning products, solvents, thinners, herbicides, pesticides, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, ballasts, mercury thermometers, expired medication and sharps.
