Registration open for children's authors events

Three popular children’s authors are taking part in online events co-ordinated in part by the Brantford Public Library.

Registration is now open through the library’s website or by calling 519-756-2220, ext. 2.

First on Jan. 24 on 1 p.m. will be the annual event co-ordinated by the Family Literacy Day committee and will feature Ruth Ohi, author of the popular Fox and Squirrel series. She also has illustrated more than 60 books that have been published all over the world,

Along with reading from her books, Ohi also will lead a drawing exercise for kids. Participants will be entered into a draw for free copies of Ohi’s books.

The two other author events are being held in conjunction with March Break.

At 2 p.m. on March 13, New York Times bestselling author Johnathan Auxier will discuss his books and answer questions from the virtual audience.

From 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on March 19, Nadia L. Hohn, author of Malaika’s Costume and Malaika’s Winter Carnivale, will run an interactive event. She is also a past winner of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario Writers’ Award.

In addition to the free online author events, library staff continue to host online storytimes that a broadcast  live at 10:30 a.m. every Monday.

The library’s YouTube page also has a few dozen past storytimes that people can enjoy.
