Sarnia Sting centre Jamieson Rees began Canada’s national junior team selection camp Monday in Red Deer, Alta.
The Carolina Hurricanes prospect is one of 18 OHL players at the 46-player camp, which will run until Dec. 13.
The camp begins with several days of practice and off-ice activity before the first scrimmage is held Saturday.
After three days of intrasquad scrimmages, the Team Canada hopefuls will play six exhibition games against a team of Canadian university players.
Rees, 19, ranked 11th in the OHL last season with 1.56 points per game. He set career-highs with 18 goals, 43 assists and 61 points in 39 games.
The camp roster includes six players who helped Canada win gold at the 2020 world junior championship.
The 2021 championship will begin Dec. 25 in Edmonton.
